About this blog

My friend Karen Pollock put me up to this, so blame her. I've never met Karen in real life, but I got to know her via the internet three years ago. She writes a wonderful food blog called The Edible Journey. In fact, she said I put her up to that because I posted my recipes on Facebook, which she said inspired her to create a food blog. Then she went around and said I should do a blog too. So. Here I am. Inspired by someone I inspired without knowing. The internet works in mysterious ways.

As my profile information will tell you, I love food. I love to cook, to create a dish that not only is a perfect symphony of taste, but also of smells and colors. I love to eat (as my ass will tell so adamantly), but I also glow with pride when others tell me what an awesome chef I am after I've served them good food. Whoops... isn't pride a deadly sin?

The best food is food with a conscious. Healthy, cruelty free, organic and fair trade. Therefore, you won't find any animals in my recipes (duh, the title of the blog kind of gave it away). I tried the vegan lifestyle for six months but being the weakling that I am, I give into an egg every now and then. I do buy organic eggs of chickens that get to walk outside and enjoy space, nature and organic food. Think about food before you buy it. Where does it come from? Who and what had to suffer what in order for you to enjoy it? Having traveled in Asia, I've seen poor people living in shacks, working for very small wages. It made me buy fair trade as much as I can.

Having given you the hippie speech... I do indulge in chocolate and fast food every now and then... I am human, you know. And carrot never made good comfort food either.

This blog will consist mostly of vegan recipes or vegetarian recipes that with a twist, will fit the vegan lifestyle. Of course, carnivores can add meat whenever they want, but why would you? Try going vegan or vegetarian once in a while... it won't kill you.
